First organ concert in Museum Speelklok’s 2025 series
On Friday, May 16, Gerben Budding (organ) and Nanette Mans (vocals) will perform an organ concert at Museum Speelklok. This concert marks the beginning of a series of four classical concerts taking place at the museum in 2025.
Tickets

The program of this first organ concert features a mix of French and German Romantic music, along with works by Daan Manneke and Bert Matter. The grand Romantic Witte organ of the Buurkerk, built in 1883, will shine through their performance. Additionally, the museum’s only true concert barrel organ, the Dubbele Ruth, will play a role. A challenge for the audience: are you sure you’re listening to a barrel organ?!

About the Witte organ at Museum Speelklok
The current church organ in the Buurkerk is the only musical instrument in Museum Speelklok that does not play automatically. Built by J. Bätz & Co. (Utrecht, 1883), it is named after C.G.F. Witte, a German organ builder who joined the Bätz brothers’ Utrecht-based workshop in 1826 and became a partner in 1831. After Witte’s passing in 1873, his son Johan Frederik Witte took over the company and was responsible for building this organ in the Buurkerk.
The organ has a rich, full sound and has been widely used beyond church services, including for concerts, radio broadcasts, and recordings.
